Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired. With IC permissions, it's a good idea to elaborate on what other players can expect from your character if they choose to do any of the following:
1). Hugging this character: Sure, though depending on how well he knows you he might not be happy about it.
2). Kissing this character: Cheek/Forehead are fine, though see hugs. Lips he reserves for special people, but feel free to do it anyway to freak him out
3). Flirting with this character: Please do. Especially if you're evil.
4). Fighting with this character: This is fine, though I'd like to plot it out first. Harry tends to be a pretty underhanded fighter and clever fighter, but at the same time I have no problem with him getting his butt kicked.
5). Injuring this character (include limits and severity): What's Harry without a laundry list of injuries? Just check with me first so I can take any injuries into account, but I have no problem with him being beaten to hell and back.
6). Killing this character: Discuss it with me first.
7). Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Just ask. As a wizard Harry's got a strong resistance to this sort of thing, but it's far from fool proof and I'm open to ideas.
Soulgazes
Soulgazing is a phenomenon that occurs to Wizards in the Dresden Files universe when they make eye contact with any sentient being with a soul for more than a few seconds. Should a wizard maintain eye contact beyond this time limit, then both he and the person he is Soulgazing experience a vision in which they look into each others souls.
What a person actually sees in a Soulgaze is usually highly symbolic, and is entirely dependent upon the individual who's soul is being gazed. Furthermore, different wizards experience a Soulgaze in different ways. While Harry Dresden experiences a vision of walking through someone's soul, his colleague Ramirez claimed he experienced Soulgazes in the form of music. However it manifests, a Soulgaze allows the participants to gaze past the outer surface of everything and see to the heart of who a person is, what is going on with them, and even what kind of person they might become. However, all of this is uncontrolled, and is heavily veiled in metaphor and symbolism. While what the participants see might be the truth, it is very easy to completely misunderstand what that truth is.
Furthermore, Soulgazes can be extremely rough on both participants, as not only do you get an unfiltered look at another human being, but also that image is seared in your brain forever, as fresh and clear as when you first saw it. Wizards, understandably, tend to be very good at avoiding eye contact.
Please note Harry is very good at avoiding eye contact, so you do not have to worry about an accidental Soulgaze unless you wish for one. However, if your character has a power that requires eye contact to work, such as a geass, there is a very good chance that it will spark a Soulgaze. I'm willing to negotiate this, of course, so please just contact me so we can work things out.
4th Walling
Harry, being a hip and savvy modern wizardand a total nerd, lives for pop culture references, and so if he sees something that reminds him of a movie, TV show, comic book, or story, he's liable to comment on it.
HOWEVER: I will never, never, NEVER 4th wall your character without your express permission. I believe that if Harry did recognize a character who resembled a fictional character from his universe, he would not comment on it for two reasons.
1) It is both rude, and sounds just a bit insane, to try and tell someone they're a fictional character, and it's a very good way to get people thinking there's something seriously wrong with you.
2) In games such as this one, it's pretty obvious that there are multiple universes. Therefore, while your character may resemble a fictional character on the surface, they are very likely a completely different individual with coincidental similarities.
That means if Bruce Wayne shows up, Harry's not going to be saying "You're Batman!" and if the Joker shows up he may not sniff his flower, but he's not going to run to the cops and say "Arrest that clown!" Note also, if your character is not one present in the general consciousness (say, Luke Skywalker level recognition) I will assume Harry has not heard of them until told otherwise, especially if they're from new media he would not have access to (Video games and the internet).
If I do slip up, however, and make a reference that is awkward for you or your character, please let me know via AIM, PM, or my HMD, and I will change it. I feel very strongly about that, so please do not hesitate to let me know.
